Jersey Girl

Hey wahines, my name is Kelly and I’ll be reporting from the Jersey Shore..I guess since this is my first post I should tell you a bit about myself. I switched from standing on a bodyboard to a surfboard when I was 13, and got hooked right away. I started competing probably a month after I started to surf, but most contests here don’t get more than 10 girls if we’re lucky. I’m also a member of my high school surf team. I love my homebreak, Belmar, and my baby sharp eye. I’ll be giving plenty of contest news from our local ESA, as well as Northeast Regionals in May. Besides surfing I love looking at and making art, running, lacrosse (currently taking up wayyy too much surf time) and writing

We just had a big noreaster which coincided with the highest tide of the year. Last Sunday we saw ridiculous unrideable conditions, slop chop but sizeable. On Monday it cleaned up beautifully with a nice west wind, plenty of people out (still in hoods/boots/gloves of course) scoring nice waist to chest barrels, except for me…. thanks to lacrosse.

I’ll write more soon!
