Entry Forms are online:  CLICK HERE for the entry form

It’s that time of year again. Summer is upon us and the water is getting oh so warm. When making your summer surf plans, pencil in August 18-19th and come out for the 11th Annual East Coast Wahine Championships! We invite girls and women of all ages and all abilities to attend. This year’s lineup includes competition in Shortboard, Longboard, Bodyboard, and Novice. We are excited about a new division, the 18 and under Advanced Shortboard division. This division is for those girls that compete regularly and are looking for a challenge. We also have our Guppy divisions for the 10 and under surfers and bodyboarders. We are bringing back the paddle relay race and will announce another division very soon. Thanks to Billabong and all our wonderful sponsors we hope to have another excellent year. We will have the official contest page with all the event information up in the next few days. Check out our poster featuring South Carolina ripper and Billabong team rider Keenan Lineback!

Lodging: (the contest takes place at the south end of Wrightsville Beach, just south of the Oceanic Pier. The closest hotel is the Surf Suites and it is very expensive.)

Early Season

Subtropical storm Andrea is warming up off the east coast and sending some good surf to south FLA and some blown out mess to the Carolina’s…unless you know where to go to avoid the VAS conditions. Unfortunately, I have been working way too much to get any of this swell.  I hope some of you are getting it.

The forecast calls for weakening due to Andrea moving into cooler waters and a bit of wind shear.  Some history to note is that the last time a storm was named so early was on April 18,2003. That was Tropical Storm Ana which formed near Bermuda. An unamed storm formed on April 21,1992.

There is really nothing more to note about this storm. All I can say is be careful out there and I hope no one experiences any flooding. She’ll be gone in a few days. The turn out to sea has started. However,  A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM ALTAMAHA SOUND GEORGIA SOUTH TO FLAGLER BEACH FLORIDA.

Southern North Carolina Wahine Gathering

Well it looks like the east coast is finally getting some waves. If you can find a spot that blocks the wind, go surfing! I wanted to let all the southern NC gals know that a get together on Figure 8 Island is in the works- on Saturday June 9th come on over to Figure 8 Island and surf in front of Paula Bushardt’s beach house. Make sure you R.S.V.P. on the wahine forum as Figure 8 is a private island and your name needs to be on the list to get on the island. Think about carpooling too! Bring your surfboard, beach towel, cooler, and hang out with some old friends or make new ones.
