2001 FreeStyle Scholastic / AAU National Junior Surfing Championships
April 7-9, 2001
New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Waves: 3-5 ft. south swell on Saturday, brisk south wind; 2-4 ft. south swell on Sunday and Monday with light southwest breeze to clean up the remnants of Saturday's surf.

Nearly 250 amateur surfers participated in this Amateur Athletic Union national surfing event, crowning nine AAU National Champions in individual division competition and one AAU National School Team champion in a Tag Team competition. First through third place finalists each received a gold, silver or bronze Millennium AAU National Championship medal, respectively

Title Sponsor FREESTYLE WATCHES presented over $5,000 in scholarship funds to top placing finalists, to be used for college related expenses by the recipients. Scholarship awards are held in trust by the ESA Marsh Scholarship Fund and released to college or university finance offices once the athlete is enrolled. Scholarship funds were awarded to athletes enrolled in ninth grade or higher as follows: 1st & 2nd place Girls / 1st & 2nd place Boys / 1st & 2nd place Jr. Men / 1st & 2nd place Jr. Women / 1st & 2nd place Open Collegian / 1st & 2nd place Longboard/ 1st & 2nd place Open Bodyboard / 1st & 2nd place Womens Bodyboard / 1st place team – Tag Team.
