About this archive
The East Coast Wahine Championships was a women's and girls' surfing competition held at Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, from 1998 to 2008. It was founded and organized by Anne Beasley, and for more than a decade it welcomed surfers of every age and level, from five-year-old first-timers to competitors in their fifties.
This website is a preserved static archive of the original eastcoastwahines.com. The championship has ended, and these pages are kept as a community and historical record: results, heat draws, award winners, photo galleries, and features as they appeared over the years.
About the preservation
The content is presented much as it originally appeared and may be out of date. Pages were rebuilt from the original site into clean, modern HTML so they remain readable on today's devices, while keeping the original words, photographs, and results intact. Some images and links from the original site were already lost before this archive was made; where a photograph could not be recovered, a small note appears in its place.
Later years of the site were maintained on a different platform whose text was not recoverable. Where that is the case, the surviving photographs and documents are kept and the record is noted as incomplete.
