Entry Deadline is August 1st. Contest starts Sat. Aug 14th 8am sharp. Check in is required. Check in available Fri. evening 6-7pm, Crystal Pier OR Sat 7am, Crystal Pier.
Heat sheets will be posted Fri evening. All heat times are subject to change, it is your responsibilty to be at the contest for your heat.
Board rules: We will follow ESA guidelines which state shortboards will be no longer than two feet over the contestants height and longboards must be nine feet OR minimum three feet over the contestants height.
Notice. The novice catagory is open to beginner surfers and those who have never entered competition. You cannot enter Novice and your age division.

The East Coast Wahine Championships is open to amateur surfer girls on the East Coast. The annual event is held in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina each August. The contest began in 1997 with 76 entries, and 1998 had 111 entries. Wahines have traveled from Florida and New Jersey to surf. Our goal is surfer girls from every state on the Eastern Seaboard! There are shortboard, longboard, and bodyboard divisions with novice and open divisions. The contest lasts two days and entry fee includes a Saturday night banquet with dinner.

The ECWC is backed by our local Southern North Carolina Eastern Surfing Association , although ECWC surfers are not required to be ESA members. The ECWC uses ESA equipment, judges, and point system, although our rules are a bit more lenient. We are promoting and supporting women's surfing, the confidence, strength, and bonds of friendship it brings.

The ECWC solely exists through the help of local and national sponsors. Surf Shops, Surf Industry, and other businesses are encouraged to support the ECWC through monetary and product donations. A few of our past national Sponsors

include Reef, Vans, Aaron Chang, and Flex-Dex skateboards. Local Surf Shops like Sweetwater, Aussie Island, Surf City, Hot Wax, The Cove, Spinnaker, and Local Call have generously donated money and prizes each year.

The ECWC received national coverage! We were featured in Surfing magazine, Juice magazine, Encore magazine, brief tidbits were seen in Wahine magazine, Eastern Surf Magazine, and Surfer Magazine. We also received daily coverage in the Wilmington Star News as well as a live radio spots from Rock 104.5 FM and Surf 107.5 FM.
